Short Bio
Seth Pae is a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Chicago IL. In 2022, Seth was appointed Assistant Principal Viola of the Chicago Sinfonietta and is currently acting Principal. He was recently Principal Viola in Lyric Opera’s World premiere of The Factotum.
Outside of the concert hall, Seth is an artistic collaborator, educator, and mentor. Seth's viola can be heard in the soundtrack to the movie, Honk for Jesus Save your Soul (2022). He frequently works with Chicago area composers and creators on a multitude of artistic projects. He performs with Chicago Sinfonietta’s Residents Orchestrate Project, bringing classical music programming to underserved areas, he does studio recording session work, and recently joined the Chicago-based artistic collective, D-Composed.
He is a teaching artist with Chicago Arts and Music Project, and a student mentor in the Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative.
In 2020, Seth expanded his musical horizons even further by performing solo and dueling piano shows. With no sheet music, Seth sings and plays songs requested by the audience on the spot. With his quirky-yet energetic stage presence, he’s now a mainstay at several piano clubs across the Chicagoland area.
